All violins are played with the left hand. Unless by “left-hand” you mean opposite, so played in the right hand. I’ve known left-handers who simply re-strung a normal violin so that the strings are reversed, and remounted the chin rest on the other side.

:-) Actually, all violins are played with both hands. The owner, because of physical issue, cannot play the instrument the “normal” way. This one has the string reversed, the bass bar and sound post on the opposite side, and the pegs holes plugged and re-reamed. All of this is documented at the website. Simply just re-string a normal violin is not a good idea, because the bass strings need more vertical action from the bridge than the treble strings, and need to be further away from the sound post to function properly… as well as a host of other things. The sound post and bass bar needs reversed as well. I am getting a left hand violin (helmke) from e-bay since most music stores don’t cater to lefties.
