this isnt terribly useful, as most cable providers have started turning on the so-called “5C” encryption on even over-the-air channels that they are mirroring.
also the mac has to be reasonably fast/have a fast disk (my 1.25GHz PBG4 could not keep up), and you can only record what you are currently watching, so the data comes out only in real-time.
a myth based linux PVR with an HD-3000 card is way more useful.
