Make your power tools smarter…

Ezroutercutout-1
One of our readers pointed us to Eurekazone, it’s a company that makes low cost guide systems for power tools. The one I’m most interested in is the “Smart Router” kit, it attaches to your router turning it into a CNC-like tool. Anyone out there try these? Thanks Chuck! Link.

While this looks like an excellent guide system, it hardly turns it into a “CNC-like” tool…(as I had hoped when I clicked on the link). If it were CNC-like it would allow all sorts of cuts with one setup, rather than just straight line, and circular with setups in between each cut…and have some sort of power feed or complex guidance.
    Woke up late, feeling snarky.
But it is a cool guide system…

The previous poster is correct – this is nowhere close to “CNC-like” and I don’t think it is snarky to point that out.

In the woodworking world, this is known as a fence and a jig – albeit a nicer fence than a piece of scrap wood and a couple of c-clamps.

    Hi guys.
I noticed some hits in our site and I stop over to say Hi.I’m the maker of the ez smart system.
If we look at the ez smart as another straight edge, this is what we have.
The tools are designed to give you extreme versatility and make cutting and routing safe and ez.
The whole concept of the ez smart is that you don’t touch the materials while cutting and routing.
I call it the Dead Wood Concept.
The Smart router kit on the above picture provides CNC like movements. You can rout XYZ. The guide rails provides the first axis. (straight)
The sliding arm the second (perpendicular to the rail)
and the third axis (angular to the rail)with a simple adjustable square attached to the guide rail.
I think we can say this is a “manual” CNC.
In some cases the SRK is even better than a CNC.
This Greek Key was done with only one reseting of the guide rail and less than 30 minutes.

This is only one small function of the ez smart system.
If the forum allows me I can answer any questions about the ez smart and the Dead Wood Concept.

    Thanks.
