Maker Camp: Day 5

Maker Camp: Day 5

It’s field trip Friday here at Maker Camp and we’ve got a truly great trip planned for our first trip of Maker Camp 2013.makercamp-280x200

We’ll be heading to San Francisco to visit with Oracle Team USA. Oracle Team USA makes some of the speediest sailboats in the world, and then races them in America’s Cup, the world’s premier sailing event. Oracle Team USA boats are seven-ton, wing-sail catamarans capable of speeds typically seen only on highways. At 43 knots boatspeed, the boats are capable of sailing their 72-foot length in a single second.Oracle Team USA

Come see how boats are made and what makes one boat faster than another and get a behind-the-scenes look at the world of competitive sailing. We’d also recommend reading up on America’s Cup, the world’s oldest trophy in international sport. We’ll be broadcasting LIVE from the warehouse at Pier 80 in San Francisco, where Oracle Team USA builds and maintains their incredible sailboat!

You can stream the live hangout on MAKE Google+ page. Ask questions, leave comments, and have fun! If you aren’t already part of our Maker Camp +community, there’s some great #makercamp action happening over there. Stop on by!
