Glowforge, the new “3D Laser Printer” that launched Thursday at MakerCon, is now open to the public at  World Maker Faire New York, which is being held Saturday and Sunday, September 26 and 27, on the grounds of the New York Hall of Science, in Queens, New York City.

For the first time, people are interacting with the machine and getting a close-up view of how it works. Visitors to the Glowforge booth at Maker Faire are able to draw on a square of acrylic and watch as the laser cuts and engraves over their drawings to make a keepsake they can take with them.

Grey Lee, 10, from Brooklyn, was one of the first to try the device.

“We read about it, so it was on our list,” his dad said.

Three Glowforges will be humming all weekend at World Maker Faire New York. Attendees will find them in the Maker Pavilion, in Zone 3. Booth #3113.

    Plenty of people were convincee after reading this article. I also watched an excellent video by TESTED about the glowforge. You can see it in action there! Looks very promising and easy to use. So I ordered one too.
