We talked toย Bart Pascoli โ€” from Makers Italiaย โ€”ย about the current state of the Maker Movement in Italy, from Arduino, to electric hybridย motorcycles, to growing plants in space.

Making in Italy didn’t start with the Arduino, nor did itย end when the Arduino became the nextย immigrant to pass through Ellis Island, andย production began in New York just a few weeks ago.

However the influence of the Arduino is obviously strong, as a number of the Italian Makers showcased by the Italian Trade Agency at Maker Faire Bay Areaย madeย use of the board under the hood.

Amongst the Makers that were showcased by the agency was Energica, who brought along their all-electric superbike capable of acceleratingย from 0 to 60 mph in 3 seconds to reach a top speed of 150 mph.

As well as the crowd-drawingย motorbike other Makers included the two rather disparateย 3D printers. One that printed in chocolate, and the other in ceramics.
