This post is coming to you live from the Saint-Malo Mini Maker Faire in France, being held all weekend at the Quai Duguay-Trouin.
The Lever le Rideau — the literal translation would be “Raise the Curtain” — are a theatre group specialising in crafts, and dealing in stage costumes as well as sets, flight cases and other accessories. The group has brought along examples of many of their works to the faire, including an intriguing collection of mechanical shadow theatres.
I talked to Fabieu Renaud and Stephen Davies, two members of the group, not just about what they’ve brought along to the faire, but the philosophy behind their work, which is to “…give technology meaning through art.”
