Needlework as Nerve Tonic

Vintage Needlework

Garth at Extreme Craft haas been collecting vintage craft magazines and hit the jackpot with nine issues of “Needlecraft” from the late 1920’s to the early 1930’s (one of my favorite eras). In one of the first issues he opened up, he came across a letter from a reader entittled “Needlework as Nerve Tonic”. I love that phrase. Read more to see how needlework can soothe the nerves. Link.

by the way, I’ve posted a couple scans of articles from vintage women’s magazines in the archives of my blog:
knitting & crochet patterns from 1919
    embroidery ads/pictures from 1923
