Old and warping, the Formica countertops in my house need to go. In researching ways to replace them, I came across a ton of great concrete tutorials.
My personal preference is for the aged look, so I was thrilled to discover this video over at DIYPete, who has a solid tutorial on making an old-world, weathered top — complete with tool marks and a fantastic acid-stained patina. He has another tutorial on how to make the clean, polished-style top for those who like it modern.
I appreciate concrete’s versatility, and am inspired by the ways people are exploring it as a material. Do you have a concrete project you are working on? I’d love to see what you are making — email me at jbabler@makermedia.com.
