BackyardArtillery sells plans ($29) for making your own rubber band machine gun – “This beauty is a fully funcitonal machine gun with TWELVE rotating barrels and a live action trigger. Loads 12 bands per barrel for a whopping 144 rubber bands that shoot off as fast as you can turn the handle! Great fun for kids of all ages…The rubber band machine gun uses a similar mechanism to the famous Gatling Gun of the old west. It stands 40 inches tall and 44 inches from the handle to the tip of the barrels. The turret effortlessly spins a full 360 degrees and tilts from 45 degrees up to 22 degrees down so you can easily keep a moving target in your sights, no matter where it goes.” [via] – Link.
Update: MrKazee says “… the description listed in this posting is NOT the same as the gun shown in the plans. following the link to the $29 plans, it is listed as a smaller 72 shot version.” – Read the comments for some other posts regarding these plans/project.

Don’t bother. It’s a complete and utter waste of your cash. Fate would have it, but I just bought this stupid set of “plans” on the 18th of July. I finally received them after shelling out $21.95 for shipping (and it arrived post marked $3.95 via regular snail mail). What I got instead of those nice looking prints, is a cheap set of BUBBLEJET printed pictures, and some re-rephotocopied instructions that are so illegible as to make it worthless. To top it off, what you do recieve looks nothing like that picture. It’s similar, but the picture is of what they build and sell ($400 dollars for plastic cogs, 6 plastic triggers and $10.00 of finished pine, plus a bag of rubber bands..heck of a markup huh?). Not the instructions of how to build it.
So, being the nice person that I am, I wrote the company RLT.com, asking about shippping, and why the obvious photocopies, and I also asked about a refund (minus shipping of course). And guess what. They totally ignored the emails (surprise, surprise), and won’t answer the phone. So, I’ve filed a transaction dispute with my credit card company.
BUYER BEWARE, these people are the problems with the internet and make people second guess buying on the internet because you never know what you get.
Further to my last rant/post (sorry everyone) this link http://www.bloject.org/blojectdisplay.php?bloject=47 is the exact same thing (I mean exact) to what they send you, and this guy’s posting the info for free.
I don’t recall seeing too many westerns where they used Gatling guns.
another “buyer beware” note: the description listed in this posting is NOT the same as the gun shown in the plans. following the link to the $29 plans, it is listed as a smaller 72 shot version.
I checked out that bloject.org site, but it doesn’t look like he has the plans available, but more of a build journal. Does anyone have a source for these plans (would be a fun project).
the link you showed leads me to nothing, did it get shut down?
