Herbie the Mousebot is a very quick, easy-to-build, light-chasing robot kit, perfect for beginners. This little robot is so quick, you have to run to keep up with him.

Bre already did this using mousey the junkbot. The schematic is the same for both that and this.
Welcome back Kip, Nice build overview.
This is actually an IMPROVED Herbie circuit (over the one I used for Mousey) with two touch sensors on the front, one touch-tail sensor (to prevent it from going under couches and other furniture) and an IR LED tail light so that, if you have two Herbies, one can chase the other.
And this bot is SO much easier to build, it’s a much better project for a beginner.
One of these days, I’ll get around to doing a Mousey update with similar functionality…
If the circuit is improved, how do you get the new schematic if you’re not Subscribed to the podcast in iTunes?
The circuit that Herbie the Mousebot uses is available in the PDF for the Herbie kit, on the Solarbotics site, here:

This weekend project is actually a publicity for a Solarbotics product. Why this???
