I’m pretty sure the guys from CarTalk on NPR had a similar shop in Cambridge MA some years back. To hear them talk, it didn’t quite work out, at least business-wise.
US Military Installations have had this same type of service for over 15 years, if not longer. You’re able to rent tools, buy parts, and consult on-site staff about problems.
San Francisco has a similar thing. The Bay Area Motor Club. $10 hourly, $30 daily, and more.
Whoa. For $10/hour to use a lift, i’d go right now.
What do you think they’d do if you ..accidentally.. (heh) ruptured an A/C line? Hooray for freeon/R12/R134a everywhere!

I think this is a pretty interesting idea and I would use it to repair my car if this was in my area.
