Fabric covered car

Energy & Sustainability

I saw a DIY version of this at Burning Man the first and only time I attended, freaky then – freaky now, excellent video of BMW’s GINA Light visionary model, a morphing fabric car.

ok, i think I might have just wet myself when the headlight opened up!!!

Its not a practical idea yet (imagine the dirt!) but man it could be so beautiful

Gosh, fabric over frame construction…what a revolutionary idea (not so much) — go look at any early airplane. Aircraft have moved away from this for the reason that a stressed-skin structure is lighter, stronger and more efficient. Cars are not quite there yet, but getting closer. I don’t see the designer dealing with the issue of wind flutter or degradation of the fabric, the latter of which which is a persistent problem in ragwing airplanes.

Our collection includes fabrics such as cashmere gabardine, all wool Venetian, silk jacquard, silk cotton, fancy wool crepe, Fuji sand washed silk, cotton corduroy, wool Scottish tartan, satin silk, pure cashmere, douppioni silk, fancy silk velvet, silk corduroy, heavy silk crepe, fancy linen, fancy brocade, silk linen, silk wool suiting & many more. The choice of colours is also very wide. Once we have your measurements placing orders in future is very easy through our order on line section.
