After getting parts from ElectroAuto, Tom converted his Saturn to all electric, a costly mod, but more people seem to be interested in doing this lately… – “Tom Wittman’s 1994 Saturn may look the same as other cars on the road, but it costs considerably less to drive. Wittman, 52, of the 200 block of Osage, Jerseyville, has converted the motor so the car runs strictly on electricity. The car, actually worth $2,000 to $3,000 in the blue book, cost Wittman between $8,000 and $9,000, but he said it will save him money in the long run.” – Link.

He’ll be the one who jells ‘Hurray’ at every price increment for oil-barrels. It means earning his investment back a lot quicker…

Well, if the petrol (gasoline) prices in the US stay the same, he will need 29 years to recoup the cost…
any other sites that have electric conversion kits?

Enjoy.
He will save some money if he can get tax breaks for having a electric vehicle. I think the only way electric cars will break into the mainstream is when battery or energy storage technology improves.
HaraldHansen: 29 years is ok, considering no car will last that long; then he would need to spend many thousands more on a new (or used) car.
