Flickr user gdafm saw my recent rebar bike post and sent us a link to these photos he took in Ampareas, Peru, of a pedal powered grain mill made in large part of welded rebar, including rebar pedals and a rebar bike seat. [Thanks, gdaf!]

Neat gadget but that is definitely a bike seat for Spartans. I’m just not made of stern enough stuff because my first thought was “That’s gonna leave a mark.”
My favorite machine of this sort is one I saw in Korea in the 60s. You feed rice straw into the hopper while running it and it produces a continuous length of the rice straw rope they use to tie large bundles.
