ZAP! One of our Maker Faire sponsors is rolling in (literally) with some new things – they’ll have the ZAPPY3’s for our staff to get around on, they’re launching a new portable energy product line (10 hour laptop batteries, etc. And the thing I really want to check out, the Xebra electric cars, this will be the first time anyone can test drive them!
Their team sent us some photos of their USA tour, so check those out and the other things they’ll have at the Maker Faire!

Its a Smart Car! Check out http://www.smart.com/ that one is the fortwo. Emmanuel Goldstein from 2600 Magazine has one that he drives around NY. Its still a tricky process to get one in the US though, technically, he is borrowing it from a friend of his from Canada, where they are all over the place.
It’s a Robin Reliant!

The Robin Reliant was an odd little British car that had three wheels, a fibreglass body and a tiny little engine. A great concept, apart from the fact that they’re woefully easy to tip over, rock alarmingly when passed by other vehicles, and have a top speed that’s pretty much laughable.
Which is a pity because overall the concept of a light, fuel efficient runabout is great. If Zap have fixed the problems the Reliant had, more power to them.
