And here’s another from the 1950s, The Gilbert Experimental Lab. Love the packaging…

Now doing science at home is almost illegal, I can’t believe it…
I received one of those Gilbert chemistry sets for Christmas in the early 1950s. It was a bit of a disappointment to find that the set did not include any big flasks or condensers. I eventually did study chemistry in college but never worked in the field (other than make my own pyrotechnics).

It’s as true today as it was back then, except now it’s foreboding.
