Crafter and artist Julie Smith gave us the scoop on the opening party of “Message to Pretty” (MAKE post here), the Chicago Art vs. Craft show going on now through June 10th which features the works of Elisabeth Doherty (amigurumi), Erinn Kennedy (paintings), Julie Smith (amigurumi), and Olivia Ortego (paintings) .

Julie says, “Message to Pretty had a really lovely opening party, and we are all so happy with the show. We served pink champagne (yikes!) and blue cookies. Our dapper bartenders sported a vintage 40’s gangster-look, and the music was Martin Denny-ish exotica. All in all a great evening. We noticed some striking similarities and recurring motifs among the work when we put everything together– even the tile floor had the same flower patterns as Erinn painted and Elisabeth crocheted on one of her dolls. Spooky serendipity. Please check out the juniortown blog for many more photos plus an excellent review by “Eddie Rosenberg” (full disclosure: aka Rodrigo Avila of Juniortown).
