Member csf0137 has graced the pool with a collection of impressive wooden machine replicas. The one seen above is a recreation of Wilhelm Schickard’s calculating machine from the early 1600’s. It’s often assumed that calculation devices were first invented by French mathematician Blaise Pascal – but Shickard’s machines predated Pascal’s by about twenty years. This apparatus makes for a compelling visual, it would be very cool to see one in action. –Link
