Digital clocks may be ubiquitous nowadays, but they make for a very satisfying DIY project and one can learn a lot from the making process. Flickr member trialex writes –

MY home made 7 segment LED clock. Digits are 1″ high. Code written using the Arduino IDE. Compile on an Arduino board, AtMega168 transferred to a custom runtime board using a 32kHz watch crystal.

Looks like it could take the place of a nightlight as well. – 7 segment LED clock
