I used some ShapeLock the other day to fix my washing machine but Alexey from Russia used some to make this robotic arm and controller! Each piece was hand crafted out of ShapeLock by using hot water and a hairdryer. The electronics consist of an Arduino variant, servos, and some potentiometers for the controller. It looks like he had some weight issues in the beginning but from the videos it appears that everything came together nicely. The pictures on his site (Google Translation) go into detail about the construction and are easy to follow. Being a huge fan of ShapeLock, I’m blown away by this build. [via hackaday]

I am the Evangelist for the Maker Shed. It seems that there is no limit to my making interests. I'm a tinkerer at heart and have a passion for solving problems and figuring out how things work. When not working for Make I can be found falling off my unicycle, running in adverse weather conditions, skiing down the nearest hill, restoring vintage motorcycles, or working on my car.
