There’s lot of exciting news coming out of Italy lately. There’s a new pope. That’s big. And now get this: Rome will host its first Maker Faire Oct. 3-6! The call for makers is open from now until June 2. If you’re a maker, performer, or presenter Maker Faire Rome wants to hear from you.

Event curators Massimo Banzi and Riccardo Luna are producing the event with World Wide Rome, a Rome Chamber of Commerce initiative. While this is a big deal for Rome, the organizers say the fair is really for Europe at large and will attract an international crowd from all over Europe and beyond.

“We are welcoming projects from all over Europe because we believe that the power of innovation should not be limited by local bounds,” says Massimo. “Makers from all over the continent  are invited to take part and share their projects to all the lovers of the ‘do it yourself’ spirit, connect and feel the empowerment of sharing.”

The venue for the fair will be in the center of Rome in a place called Campo Boario in the city’s Testaccio neighborhood. Travel and Leisure has an article about the area here.

If you’re a maker or planning on being in Italy this fall, you need to be at Maker Faire Rome.
