This is a scan of the complete Bloc-Tronic electronic kit manual. It has 163 electronics projects from a simple continuity tester to a radio transmitter which are arranged roughly in order of complexity. Each project has both the block layout for the kit and a standard schematic so you could build these on a breadboard as well.

On a related note, does anyone have a set of these they would be willing to let us borrow for a bit? I’m thinking that it might be possible to reproduce them in some way…

The shells look like they were injection molded, but you could probably get away with resin casting for a re-make.
Jon from LifeAfterCoffee.com here. If you’re serious about a reproduction of the Bloc-Tronic toy drop me an email! I’d gladly offer up my Bloc-Tronic set to the MAKE crew if it would help with a project! Just drop me an email to jon@lifeaftercoffee.com.
Beyond the original set I could also see ICs integrated into the experiments if you really wanted to go to the next level, but in truth part of this sets appeal is its simplicity.
I’ve had this Bloc-Tronic kit for years. Thanks for the additional info. I’ve had these pics posted for about 8 years but have never been able to find any additional info.
Oh, my pics are at http://www.hollenback.net/index.php/BlocTronicRobot
