This little gem is perfect for anyone interested in 3D modeling and no budget. The software is free while in beta and is totally unique in how easy it is to learn. I found it looking for a product to use for virtual protyping ceramic designs and fell in love with it. I purchased also purchased Mudbox 3D; but, by far, the interface of CB Model Pro is my favorite. By the way, they have a similar children’s product (ages 7-14)called Cosmic Blobs and it’s going to be distributed by The Learning Company in the near future. I have some video demos of how easy it is to use on my photobucket site. Just go to my album here to find some art and videos related to CosmicBlobs, CB Model Pro and Mudbox…

Anyone interested in a low/no cost 3D program need only look for Blender.
I was an avid 3DS Max user for 9 years before picking up Blender. It’s great for the power user and has great modeling techniques for beginners.
You’ll be able to do pretty much anything you can with CB Pro in Blender. And Blender will always be free.
And Blender is available for us 5% MAC users (and other major OS).
Thanks for the tip NotBlaine!
CB is also for mac, but you need a G5 or an intel.
TO say that ‘one need only look at Blender’ fails to recognize the vast differences in preferences and needs of potential 3D users.
The strength of CB Model Pro is that is does NOT approach 3D modeling in the same way that Blender or 3DS Max does. It’s more intuitive for those having greater artistic than technical sensibilities. I’ve also found it much more easy to learn.
I’ve only been using CB Model Pro for a little over 1 month. But, I decided to see just how quickly I could duplicate the tutorial on the Blender web site that creates a snowman and some trees. It took me less than 9 minutes to complete the task in color and having each tree be a bit different done entirely in CB Model Pro.
Here is a link to a video of the process in CB Model Pro.
You can also find other videos that demonstrate the ease and power of CB Model Pro on a new blog.
Again, I have no doubt that Blender is a nice program. It’s just that it’s not the ONLY program for evenyone. :)
Let’s try that again. I posted the blog for Cosmic Blobs, the version for childen. The Blog for CB Model Pro is:
There… that’s more like it. :)
But, most of the tutorials for Cosmic Blobs also apply to CB Model Pro.
Hi does anyone live here any more? Have a question– Am trying to find one to do three- d paper models do any of these work for that?
