Last week there was an update to iTunes (7.4) – this allowed you to make your own ringtones by simply renaming your files with a .m4r extension. Within a day Apple released 7.4.1, the update killed that, but now you just need to rename them back to m4a. This reminds me of when Sony tried to stop firmware hacks on the PSP – Link.

Or, you know, buy a phone that isin’t locked down to one carrier, locked up so you have to pay inflated prices for ringtones/theme/games, and wise up and stop being a little sheep for these cell phone providers?
the iphone can be hacked to use any gsm carrier now (that’s the stuff we like to cover the hackery).
