That site is fine if you’re looking for parts that are currently in production, AND stocked by one of the major distributors (Avnet, Arrow, Future, etc.).

A lot of times, however, hackers, builders, and MAKErs alre looking for older or more obscure part information and sources.

For datasheets, it’s tough to beat AllDataSheet.com

For sources, I always try FindChips.com

For example, and from a current thread in the forums, plug “MC145436” into each and you’ll see what I mean.

There are a ton of datasheet search sites available, like John had mentioned it is better to be able to search old part data. Here are a few of the bigger ones that have a good amount of datasheets :

    datasheetarchive.com
    freedatasheets.com
    alldatasheets.com
    datasheet4u.com
