Matthew has a super LED lighting guide – “LED lighting is becoming increasingly popular in fish tanks, case mods, and even household lighting. This article intends to be a comprehensive guide to their advantages, powering them, and creating dimming solutions.” Link.

Here is a handy version made for “off-line” use. It’s a mod for PocketMod.
The forums seem to be down for the moment, but here is link to the resistor calculator mod.
Most of my resistors have 4 colour bands these days. very confusing but the worse part is I can no longer see the colours! a blue background makes it even worse.
Sorry to say I usually resort to using a meter – and me a trained electronics engineer!
Hey PT,
You should have the MakeBot do resistor calculations too.
Like maybe:
input: “resistor 220”
response: “red-red-brown”
input: “resistor 10k 5%”
response: “brown-black-orange-gold”
input: “resistor green-blue-yellow-silver”
response: “560k 10%”
Here’s my favorite resistor color code page:

I like its interface best, and you can choose 4,5, or 6 band codes. But it only works as a reader: you pick the colors, it gives you a value.
