Oliver has a lot of fun projects on this site – “Homebrew hardware, including a homemade TIG welder, focus fusion, and other HV/High risk pursuits” – Link.
TIG (Tungsten inert gas) is also known as G.T.A.W (gas tunsten arc welding) or sometimes helearc which refers to the use of helium in the origanal desigs, and confusingly a patanted design to spiral air in plasma cutting torches (a compleatly different proces)
TIG welding is used when a very accrate and neat weld is required. it also has other advantages, for example Copper, titanium and aluminium can be welded. – Link.

I hope he pays more attention to safety than he does to his spelling and grammar.
Yeah, I’ve noticed that’s been happening a lot with evil genius experimenters lately. Writing skills get lost in the shuffle.
Hehe! this site was something of a prototype being the first site i have made. Stuff tended to be written after a long day of building said stuff so spelling and tyops went by the wayside in the rush to show off my latest creations to my mates :) i guess now I’m famous I’ll have to improve it!

What about separate device for TIG start?
Advanced techniques expand joining methods. Welding continues to be one of the most important methods of joining metals. Tig welders is working very clean and fine on any metals.
