I love neelandan’s electronics they’re gritty –
“This is a charger for lithium ion batteries which takes its power from the USB port of a computer.
It uses the MCP73861 or MCP73863 Li-ion battery charger chip manufactured by Microchip.” – Link.

Cool! An alternative chip is the Maxim MAX1555 — it has only 5 pins instead of 16, so it might be easier to wire up. Sparkfun has a demo board: http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/product_info.php?products_id=726
From sparkfun: “This charger is a ‘must have’ for quick and clean charging of Lithium Polymer chemistry batteries.”
Quick indeed, at a measly 100mA with USB :)
