Tom Hoffman has posted some quick and easy instructions for running Sugar (“essentially a virtual XO”) on Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbon. If you don’t have a giant screen, check out these instructions for tips on using a lower resolution (you’ll need to do something like vi `which sugar-emulator`
to edit the startup script). This might hold you over while you wait for your GOGO order to arrive.

qos only really effects upstream so won’t really help with high pings (lag) if using p2p such as torrent
Regulating downstream traffic also controls upstream traffic. If you slow down the speed at which you send ack’s back after you receive a packet then the other end will assume you can’t handle the current speed and slow down until the response rate is appropriate.
It does take a moment for this to occur though so the connection will initiate at full speed.
