Tom Hoffman has posted some quick and easy instructions for running Sugar (“essentially a virtual XO”) on Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbon. If you don’t have a giant screen, check out these instructions for tips on using a lower resolution (you’ll need to do something like vi `which sugar-emulator` to edit the startup script). This might hold you over while you wait for your GOGO order to arrive.

  1. james says:

qos only really effects upstream so won’t really help with high pings (lag) if using p2p such as torrent

  2. Mike says:

Regulating downstream traffic also controls upstream traffic. If you slow down the speed at which you send ack’s back after you receive a packet then the other end will assume you can’t handle the current speed and slow down until the response rate is appropriate.

It does take a moment for this to occur though so the connection will initiate at full speed.
