Bengt-re submitted this photo of a vintage integrated circuit, the MC7476P to be precise. The gold contacts were used to ensure the best surface conductance when the chip was seated in its socket … either that or this is one classy “Dual J-K Flip-Flop” – MC7476P with golden legs on Flickr

That’s curious because the high-end chips are usually in ceramic rather than plastic packages. Unusual find!
This is not unusual at all. I have TONS with gold plating in my parts bins.
