Most digital point-and-shoot cameras can shoot video clips. However, most don’t have very good onboard lighting. Even a lot of the current video cameras lack a good light source. The ProdMod Video Light kit from the Maker Shed solves that problem. I had a chance to check it out at Maker Faire and it worked really well. It’s an amazingly bright and compact light source that is small enough to carry around in your pocket.
Features:
- Record video with your point and shoot camera in complete darkness!
- Can also be used for macro photography or task lighting
- Low/High power setting

No usable audio on this video. I had to pick my speaker up and hold it to my ear.
Also the light under the lens makes it all look a little horror movie-like to me.
Audio is totally fine for me? Anyone else?
sorry about that, I think you are referring to the video demo I recorded. The audio is really low esp on laptops. I’ll try to record another one and remember to SPEAK UP!
i guess i’m shy ;)
I agree its not best to light from below but it keeps it compact and convenient, sometimes its not really noticeable.
but if you have a shoe mount above your lens you can easily connect this to the top of your camera using a simple aluminum bracket for $2 or so. or you can buy a cold shoe adapter for $10
oh and I made the mistake of placing the camera below “the horizon” so its under me instead of in line with my line of sight or above.
