
Want to rock out, but forget to bring your instrument? Then you might want to check out Instrumentube, a collection of YouTube-based instruments that you play by dragging the video time slider to match up to the correct note. I can’t imagine this being a very efficient way to play music, but it is a pretty funny hack.

After trying and enjoying what Instrumentube did with the YouTube annotations, I did some experimenting with the YouTube JavaScript API, and came up with an enhanced player for videos like this: http://brooks.boyd.name/youtube_instrument.php
Now if only there were more videos that were like this; someone playing a simple scale in ten second increments…
