Ian made an awesome Nixie tube ornament –

“The Nixie Tube Ornament is a homage to the light-up&motion ornaments from the early 90’s. The ornament looks cool on a tree and makes a great gift. Finally, a use for IN-12/15 top view tubes!

I used an IN-15A symbol nixie in this ornament. An IN-12 works great too.”Link.

Wow, high voltage and dry pine needles — that’s a fire waiting to happen!

i wanna know where he got that instructables tool, i’m saving for the make tool….sorry but it is a little pricy considering i just got a gerber for 25$ but it would be nice to have a little collection of tools for people who look at the label that says “opening this will void your warranty” as a challenge.

The HV for the tube (180 volts DC) is actually less than the voltage in the Christmas lights (220 volts AC). An occasional watering keeps the tree from drying out…
