The Open Source Hardware Association (OSHWA) runs a free program that allows creators to certify that their hardware complies with the community definition of open source hardware. Whenever you see the certification logo, you know that the certified hardware meets this standard.
Over the course of the last two years as part of a National Science Foundation POSE III grant focused on the intersection of health and open hardware, leading to the Open Healthware ecosystem, OSHWA developed a new certification process specific to open health devices with the extraordinary support of the open healthware community. We are extremely proud to be able to highlight the first Open Healthware Certifications.
Currently the Open Healthware Certification database lists four individual certifications. We are looking forward to seeing this number grow. Please submit your Open Healthware certification today!
Projects certified through the Healthware process will still be listed in the general Certification database as well.
Open-LIFU

From Openwater we have the Open-LIFU, or the Low Intensity Focused Ultrasound platform for research. This device features a console that generates high-voltage drive signals, coordinates timing and fits on any lab bench with a wearable transducer headset one or two 64-element 2D matrix transmit modules all working on open source software. Every parameter of a sonication sequence is fully programmable, allowing for full control. The transducer even utilizes an Android for localization through photogrammetric reconstruction.

Universal Mounting System

The Universal Mountain System is a series of 3D-printed attachments from objects in a hospital environment. There are hooks, holders and clamps that are mutually compatible with a back piece that is able to mount to walls, hospital beds, trolleys, poles, and more. The front pieces are designed to accommodate specific tools like humidifier bottles, handheld pulse oximeters and more, allowing for a large range of use cases and options.
COSMIIC

We have talked about COSMIIC before on the OSHWA site as one of the first groups we were working with on the Open Healthware ecosystem, especially because COSMIIC has a unique role as a fully implantable device. This neurdomulation platform was released through NIH SPARC funding and has expanded into numerous research projects around use for people with spinal cord injuries.
