Mac Mini Robot

Dsc04934 Small MAKE pal Jason Striegel from writes “Here’s a telerobotic Mac Mini based on the Pioneer 3at platform. I guess they intend to expand this into a fully autonomous unit that uses lidar and the iSight camera for guidance and obstacle avoidance. Right now they control it over a wireless connection and use ichat to provide a remote video feed”. Link.

I wish the article had a little more in-depth information about how they made it, but this is a really cool story, thanks

I worked with George Storm on his MacMini robot at the 2005 ADHOC/MacHack programming conference. We got the MacMini robot to successfully autonomously track objects using vision control. To demonstrate, we wrapped some green gaffers tape around our legs and the robot would follow us around.
