Pitches with Prototypes: FoldiMate Laundry Robot

Continuing our run-up coverage to MAKE’s 2013 Hardware Innovation Workshop is number three in our “pitches with prototypes” contest: the FoldiMate 5000 Alpha laundry-folding robot from co-founders Gal Rozov, Dr. Ted Selker, and Robert Ford.

Their target market is “businesses who fold clothes regularly, starting with coin-operated laundromats, apparel printing shops, clothing stores, etc.” writes CEO Rozov, who has put together a seven-person team to develop the idea. They are self-funded, at this point, to the tune of $300,000. More information is available at the FoldiMate VC clearinghouse page on AngelList.

This is crazy! I’m not sure how I feel about living in a world where robots are folding my clothes!

  2. Brad Flaherty says:

nice idea… but a really poor presentation on behalf of the innovators. I still don’t know the quality of the fold, the fold time (they say it, but don’t demonstrate it) or if it folds all clothes well.
I hope they make it, but they will have to upgrade their marketing severely.

  3. Lillian Dostal says:

It is another amazing invention. But I guess people will now get lazier and lazier. I am sure this invention will be upgraded and its work will be more effective but then again, people will now rely too much on robots. It now reminds me of the movie Wall-E.
