But if you want to hack together something similar and you don’t want to build a huge honking Roomba serial tether, you could build the Roombongle!” – Link.

What exactly does this do? I don’t get this…
It’s an interface between the Roomba and a PC (Mac, Windows, Linux). Then you can control the Roomba from your computer.
Really pretty cool!
Maybe I should get one for my home.
Ok…so you can program how the vacuum operates with the laptop, and then the laptop goes for a ride everywhere…Interesting. Can the Roomba be controlled similarly with Basic Stamp, for instance? I think the Roomba might make an interesting platform for a robot if the interface could be worked out…
In fact, the Roomba can be controlled with a Basic Stamp or any other microcontroller. There will be a book coming out this fall called Hacking Roomba that will show you how to do just that.
