We’ve mentioned this kit before, but here’s more about it, a simple “snap together” kit for kids… –
“Snap Circuits electronic educational toys make learning electronics easy and fun! Just follow the colorful pictures in the included manual and build exciting projects, including FM and AM radios, digital voice recorders, burglar alarms, doorbells, and much more! You can even play electronic games with your friends. All parts are mounted on plastic modules and snap together with ease. Enjoy hours of educational fun while learning about electronics. No tools required.” [via] – Link.
Last year one of our makers had this to say about the kits I bought a Snap Circuits Jr. for my daughter a while back. The snap part of it could be made a little better. But, the overall kit quality is very nice and the instructions are easy to read to with good diagrams. Elenco /Snapcircuits also has additional projects on their web site.
Have other good electronic kits? Send’em in!

My kid got one of these for Christmas 2004. It works as advertised, and he’s finally getting into it. We have discovered that some of the snaps don’t hold as well as others, and some of the snaps come off of their circuit boards. But all in all, it’s a fun way to learn basic electronics.
Got this for my eight-year-old son last Christmas. He loves it and plays with it often. Haven’t had any trouble with any of the snaps. He wants the Pro version this Christmas.
Got these for my 6 year old and although we had a great time and the kit performed as promised, I hit the same frustration point with all these kits (like the Rad Shack spring connector ones):
These kits are great for demonstrating craft skills of following instructions, but do little more than SUPPORT learning of electronics.
Can someone suggest a few “Learning Electronics” books for elementary school kids which aren’t the usual electricity glut of static electricity, lightening, and wire motors??
Similar to, but not as cool or lustworthy as the Japanese Denshi Blocks system.

Sorry about the double post. I forgot to add, one of the cool things about Denshi Blocks is that the completed circuit resembles the original schematic because the component symbol is printed on top of the block. More info on Wikipedia
This is a very good product
