Here’s a prank-style kit from MadLab Electronics, the IR-ritator. Schematic included –
A practical joke for playing on anybody who uses an infrared remote to control electrical equipment such as a television. The IR-ritator can jam a remote control and make it seem unreliable, and it can also record and mimic a remote control and disrupt the normal operation of a piece of equipment.

Great, can’t wait till the next CES show for the lifetime bans to be handed out.
they had something like this on hackaday i believe, and one of the comments some guy was arguing about how these were a safety hazard to children. it was hilarious.
or maybe it was this blog? i dont remember…
This would be perfect for after you turn a TV off with the TV-B-Gone. You turn it off, then jam the signals so the television stays off. I love it!
Or you can turn it on to keep the tvbgonners at bay.
that’s what i was thinking cjc.
For us americans that want to buy one, according to the madlab website you will want to try ApogeeKits. However, as of this post they said they don’t have any in stock yet and are awaiting information from madlab.
