Make Stuff Together is the work of two women who’ve made it their mission to help families create together. Bernadette Noll and Kathie Sever run the Austin, TX-based Future Craft Collective, which offers craft camps and classes for kids, along with project kits and curricula for parents.
We’ll have more details on their new book after the jump. They’ve also offered us this PDF project excerpt: a quilted Pin the Tail on the Donkey game that you can use over and over, and loan to friends. Click below for the full project!

Make Stuff Together is more than a collection of projects. Bernadette and Kathy drew on their years of experience crafting with kids to create instructions that take into account attention spans, energy levels, and navigating the line between interesting learning challenges and overwhelming complexity. Each project is divided into three phases, so you can break it up over as many sessions as your kids need to stay engaged in the process.
Not only that, the projects make use of recycled materials, which Bernadette and Kathy believe help instill kids with a sense of self-reliance and conservation. There are useful bags made from old wetsuits and bike tires, game boards made from coffee sacks, and tableware made from leftover scrap fabric.
This book is a great introduction to sewing for kids, with projects that range in complexity for both younger and older children. For parents, it’s a solid companion for summertime craft adventures.
