Dale Dougherty welcomed an appreciative crowd to MAKE’s first New York Hardware Innovation Workshop (HIW). The San Mateo event earlier this year was so popular that Dale announced that we would hold a second one to kick off World Maker Faire New York.
“Maker to market is an important segment of the maker ecosystem,” Dale said. “Makers who have figured out that they have a good product or service that has a market.”
Dale went on to explain that the maker movement is not defined by technology. “It is really defined by the social interactions that happen and are to some degree facilitated by technology.”
The kickoff begins a whole day of keynote speakers, panels, and presentations on hardware innovation and the maker movement. Stay tuned for coverage throughout the day. If you couldn’t make it out for the event, follow along on MAKE’s live video feed and follow along on twitter with the #HIW hashtag.
