I have been cutting letters out on the bandsaw for more than 30 years. In past videos, you can see me cutting out letters, but often far away from the lens and at a fast pace.
At the request of some YouTube subscribers I made a more revealing video of my process. In this video I cut out a quote by Mark Twain and show my bandsaw technique up close. I am using a 1/8′ blade with 14-tooth pre-inch Bi-Metal blade with a 10″ Ricon bandsaw I recently purchased. I often start with a paper print out from my computer to make a perfect template.
Tools:
- Bandsaw
Materials:
- 3/4 ” MDF with walnut veneer
- Spray glue
- Paper printout
- Sanding board
In each bi-monthly episode of DiResta (every other Wednesday), artist and master builder Jimmy DiResta (Dirty Money, Hammered, Against the Grain, Trash for Cash) lets us into his workshop, to look over his shoulder while he builds whatever strikes his fancy.
