Bahar Kumar
Bahar Kumar is the Director of Nepal Communitere, a vibrant hub for bold innovators and creative change makers based in the heart of Kathmandu. Communitere's resource center offers co-working, Makerspace, training lab, and business incubation services to help people turn their brilliant ideas into reality. Our dynamic space, made from 16 donated shipping containers, is a place that values growth, learning and safe failure. We believe the process is as important, if not more so, than the product. Bahar loves to take organic ideas and transform them into meaningful products and services for social impact. She brings nearly 20 years of experience working with communities, connecting people and helping others to translate research into concrete action for teams. She is a strong facilitator and experienced trainer and has provided leadership in the areas of public health program development, implementation and evaluation with an emphasis in community-based participatory approaches to strengthen the skills of locally-based teams. She has participated as a mentor and/or judge for several entrepreneurship and leadership programs such as Seedstars Kathmandu, Hult Prize, USAID’s Feed the Future, the Creative Business Cup, the Women Development Advocacy Center and Ujyalo Foundation’s Women Leadership Summit and EmpowHer Junior. She is an American, with deep roots in Nepal.
