HOW TO build a Permanent magnet generator…(power from wind)
Wouter writes “…an excellent, 49-page step-by-step how-to with photos on how to make your own pancake generator. It shows how to make jigs, a winding tool etc. The site also contains PDF’s on how to make your own generator blades. Mr. Piggot is an enthusiastic wind generator man who’s not afraid to share his extensive knowledge. More power to him”. Link (PDF).
Anthony Skirvin’s great HOW TO – First thing, with screen printing, there is a bunch of different ways to achieve the same end result. What I am showing you here is only one way that I print posters, so this should be a considered an introduction, but know that there are plenty of different methods out there that will work just as well.
If you’re really in to audio- here’s how to make your own tube traps. Given the level of interest in these DIY tube traps I put together a brief tutorial for the relatively simple process for constructing these excellent tube traps. MAKE pal Jake has a good HOW TO – By default every movie encoded using Dr. DivX or the newer DivX Create Bundle displays a watermark during the first few seconds of playback. In theory this is great free advertising for DivX which introduces a bunch of new eyes to their encoding product. Who knows if it actually works. Occasionally that watermark gets in the way of things like subtitles but it’s generally harmless. If you’re annoyed by it, DivX offers a fairly simple method for making it go away.
Gkaufman’s used 2 PC expansion slot covers to create a new mounting bracket for his bike’s rear carrier. He wanted to pull the rear rack off of his old bike and mount it. The problem was that the rack’s mounting bracket wasn’t designed to fit this style of bike. More details on the project blog
