Looks like NPR is dropping Audible – As we formulate a more comprehensive strategy, we chose not to renew our agreement with Audible when it recently expired. We are now developing a new strategy for making NPR content downloadable and portable. Once the plan is finalized, we will announce it publicly. [via] Link. 9 months ago Firefox 1.0 came out, 80 million downloads later, it’s hard for me to use anything else. I have a pretty tweaked set up, the G5 optimized build, the brushed metal theme and here are my extensions and greasemonkey scripts. All of this together helps fuel the MAKE blog machine. The really interesting thing is- I think this might be the “end of Word” as we know it as all the browser tools are slowly replacing my need to use Word and Word-like applications. In the spirit of MAKE Volume 03’s MOD YOUR ROD- This car mod shows off a LINUX-based CarPC that is just plain awesome. He can listen to music, watch videos, view slideshows, sniff wireless networks and plot them with GPS, browse the web with Firefox, connect to his cell phone via Bluetooth, stream DirecTV, remote-start the car, and connect to it via WI-FI, EVDO…Lots of great pics. Wow, do you recall the post here on MAKE about 2 months ago? Someone was making furniture (for themselves) out of Fedex boxes, then the next day the site went offline. Turns out there was indeed a cease and desist from Fedex. Here’s a pretty scary article about that… Link.
