ITP student Rose Schlossberg attached dental mirrors to an armature on a head strap to make the user able to stare at his/her own eyes. As Rose puts it, “fall in love with yourself all over again.” It’s an interesting project, but I wouldn’t recommend trying to walk around with your eyes trained upon your own eyes.
Ben Light has really been getting into working with the CNC machine, and it shows with his latest creation the Turn Table Lamp. The user simply spins this plywood lamp to adjust the brightness. At first I thought there were some electronics involved to achieve this, but it’s actually done with a pair of polarizing lenses — a simple technique that yields a beautiful effect.

One time I accidentally shorted the transformer on one of my guitar amps, sending sparks flying. This was definitely an epic (and dangerous) fail for me.

Using a tom tom drum, an Icoustic bass, and violin, iCoustic founder Ken Preece has produced what looks to be a low-end banjo on steroids. The size and proximity of the tom tom brings out the depth of the bass as he plays it. Definitely a hip way to play upright bass.
