NetBSD…on a Toaster
Finally after many, many yeas of running on everything-but-your-toaster NetBSD is there too. Technologic Systems has made a toaster that is controlled by NetBSD and powered by one of their ARM boards, the TS-7200. DIY Fedex Furniture Causes FedEx Fits
Wow, do you recall the post here on MAKE about 2 months ago? Someone was making furniture (for themselves) out of Fedex boxes, then the next day the site went offline. Turns out there was indeed a cease and desist from Fedex. Here’s a pretty scary article about that… Link.
RGB LED Project
Gerry Duprey has created a project that allows precise computer control of up to 13 RGB LEDs. The controllers can be strung together for control over hundreds of LEDs. The software is open for revision. Gerry is active on the HomeVision user forum, and we (members of the forum) are working on a “group buy” of the PC boards and components. Thanks Kerry! Link.

ConsumerReports – Macs have viri and spyware?
Macs may eventually get lots of Viri and Spyware, but can this be right? Consumerreports says – Macs are safer than Windows PCs for some online hazards. Only 20 percent of Mac owners surveyed reported detecting a virus in the past two years, compared with 66 percent of Windows PC owners. Just 8 percent of Mac users reported a spyware infection in the last six months vs. 54 percent of Windows PC users. [via] Link.
