Just another reason got attend this September’s Open Hardware Summit: the awesome name badges, code-named BADGEr! They’ve got an e-paper screen, an on-board ATmega328, and a Micro SD slot. It can also function as an Arduino shield! The boards were designed by WyoLum and manufactured by Seeed Studio.
Yesterday, starting at the very hacker unfriendly hour of 8:30am and running into the mid evening, Eyebeam in Manhattan saw the movers and makers in the open source hardware space gather for their annual summit. The 3rd annual Open Hardware Summit is underway at Eyebeam in New York City. Wired editor-in-chief Chris Anderson kicked off the sold-out, standing room only event. The roster of speakers is stellar and includes our own Dale Dougherty and many folks from the pages of MAKE.
Before this week’s Open Hardware Summit gets underway on Thursday in New York City, we thought we’d highlight some of the great presentations at the MAKE Hardware Innovation Workshop held this past spring in Palo Alto as a warm-up of some of the issue and players.
This year’s Open Hardware Summit has a fantastic rooster of speakers. There are also some especially fun talks, like MAKE’s very own Super Awesome Sylvia and Joey Hudy talking about kids and open source, Jim Burke presenting on the Power Racing Series, and Erin Kennedy, aka RobotGrrl, on sharing inspiration through the development of robot kits.
