ir pulse sensor traces horizontal Use an Oscilloscope to See Your Pulse

MAKE reader Scott recently made a modified version of the IR Pulse Sensor, combining the design by Sean Ragan with the “simple and sensitive” (but also “slightly more complicated”) circuit originally crafted by MarkusB from Let’s Make Robots. He added a few other components along the way, notably the trimpot and status LED seen on the topside of the perfboard:

Ultimately this was done so Scott could tinker around with his recently acquired oscilloscope! You can read about his IR Pulse Sensor build and many more of Scott’s wonderful electronics projects over on his blog, lungstruck.

Now imagine controlling a beetle with your pulse!
